When describing my yarns, I have adopted these guidelines and standards from the Craft Yarn Council, which I am using with their kind permission.

They are provided to give you sense of their thickness and the needle or hook size you would normally use with such a yarn. Obviously, they are a guide only and you can use other sizes to achieve a variety of looks with your projects, depending on the pattern you are using.
